“DFN2020D-3 packaged devices deliver an 80% reduction in board space when compared to SOT89, and a 90% reduction compared to SOT223,” according to the company. “The package also features side-wettable flanks to enable automated optical inspection of solder joints.”
SOT1061D is the other name for this package. To allow for side wetting, it has a 2.5 x 2.1 footprint on the PCB, which is 5.25mm2, compared with 4.83mm2 for the non-side-wetting SOT1061/DFN2020-3.
