WES to hold Caroline Haslett Lecture and Awards 2023

The venue is the Geological Society in Burlington House, Mayfair, and the WES annual event also celebrates the winners of the Karen Burt Memorial Award for the best female newly chartered engineer, the Men as Allies Award and the Amy Johnson Inspiration Award.

For 2023 the Caroline Haslett Lecture will be given by the society’s President, Dame Dawn Childs (pictured above), the Chief Executive Officer of Pure Data Centre Group (Operations) Ltd.

“Dame Dawn has an MBA from Cranfield University, an MA in Defence Studies from Kings College London and a BEng in Mechanical Engineering from Bath University. She is also a Fellow of the Institute of Mechanical Engineers, the Institute of Civil Engineers, the Royal Aeronautical Society and the Women’s Engineering Society and works as an Ambassador at Alton College. Dame Dawn was elected to Fellowship of the Royal Academy of Engineering in 2020.”

The Women’s Engineering Society (WES) is a charity and limited company, founded in 1919 to support women in engineering.

As well as running a programme of projects and events, it aims to “raise the profile of women as leaders by offering awards to inspirational engineers, we speak to the media and campaign to change policy where it impacts on women engineers and STEM education, and we evolve workplace cultures so that women feel supported in the workplace”.
