A large 3-alarm fire broke out at Texas Pool Supply — a subsidiary of Heritage Pool Supply — in Frisco, TX on the morning of Sept. 25, likely caused by a chemical reaction on a pallet of materials outside the building, according to local media.
The fire reportedly spread to a truck and the warehouse, but interior damage was limited by the building’s sprinkler system. The fire was first reported by an employee around 8 a.m., sending smoke into the air and prompting a temporary shelter-in-place order, which was lifted two hours later, said a news report. All employees in the warehouse at the time were able to evacuate safely.
Frisco Fire Marshal Kelly Kistner reported that the fire involved three main chemicals: pool salt, chlorine and pool shock, with two of them classified as hazardous.
According to a news report, three firefighters and seven police officers were hospitalized due to chemical exposure, with symptoms including: itchy eyes, skin irritation and difficulty breathing. All are stable and expected to recover.
Air quality at the scene was monitored and no harmful levels were detected.
Heritage Pool Supply Group launched the Texas Pool Supply brand in June 2022. The 50,000-square-foot facility serves as the brand’s flagship location, featuring a warehouse, showroom and training space.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
