The fabless operation is called Advanced Electronics & Semiconductor Solutions (AESS).
Aumovio is currently in the process of being spun off from Continental as a separate company.
Globalfoundries has been taken on board as the foundry for the products developed by AESS.
“The creation of this fabless semiconductor organization will strengthen Continental’s position not only by reducing geopolitical risks but also by the way of becoming more self-reliant in this field,” said Philipp von Hirschheydt (pictured) member of the Continental Executive Board and CEO of Aumovio.
Continental anticipates that the new organisation will generate value through operational efficiencies, cost savings and an enhancement of overall cash flow.
