TDK 1kV gate drive transformer

“These components meet IEC 61558-1/2-16 for basic insulation and enable gate driver designs for full-bridge inverter modules, particularly in e-mobility and industrial environments,” said the company. “A good choice for fast-switching IGBT and SiC devices, the triple-insulated winding structure, combined with a MnZn ferrite core allows for isolation in high-switching-frequency applications.”

Family part numbers start with B78541A25, and there are three winding options (see table) including one with a single output, and two with asymmetrically tapped outputs for gates needing negative excursions.

Operation is expected between 100 and 500kHz, and the nominal input side inductance is 75µH with an inductance profile largely flat over the -40 to +150°C operating temperature range.

Coupling capacitance is 4pF, leakage inductance: 0.7µH, and primary side dc resistance: 420mΩ.

Partial discharge extinction voltage is ≥1.2kVpeak, reinforced insulation capability is 300Vac, and 3kVac can be withstood for 60s.

Input to output creepage is 9mm, and there is 8.14mm clearance.

The series is qualified to AEC-Q200 Rev E for automotive use and, for power-train mounting, has been vibration tested to AQG 324 on a standard Eurocard PCB.

Actual size is 13.85 x 10.5 x 9.2mm.
