Roofing and building products distributor Beacon announced Nov. 1 its acquisition of Jacksonville, Florida-based Coastal Construction Products. Financial details of the transaction were not disclosed. Beacon ranked No. 5 on Modern Distribution Management’s 2022 Top Building Materials/Construction Distributor list.
Coastal has 18 locations dedicated to waterproofing serving the Southeast and Midwest, which will join the 13 specialty waterproofing locations Beacon already has in the Western U.S. As a result of the Coastal acquisition, Beacon will create a new specialty waterproofing division, which will be led by Coastal CEO Martin Harrell, according to a news release.
“This partnership allows us to bring our customers the benefits of Beacon’s North American footprint and specialized capabilities designed to accelerate growth and enhance profitability,” Harrell said.
“We are thrilled to welcome Coastal’s over 200 employees to the Beacon team,” Beacon President and CEO Julian Francis said. “Expanding nationwide access to waterproofing products enhances our value proposition to our commercial and multifamily customers and provides the opportunity to build more together.”
It’s been a busy week for Virginia-based Beacon, which announced Oct. 27 the opening of new branches in Leitchfield, Kentucky, and Hampton, Virginia. That came a few days after the launch of Beacon’s new mobile app, Beacon PRO+, on Oct. 24. The app is designed for iPhone and Android devices with access to Beacon’s full product catalog, order history, delivery tracking and more for contractors who spend their days on-the-go.
