Rami Sinno (pictured) was responsible for developing Trainium and Inferentia – Amazon’s in-house developed proprietary chips for the training and inferencing of AI programmes.

Arm is looking to develop proprietary chips to sell under its own brand and its latest financial report showed increased expenses which were thought to be attributable to that effort.

Arm is reported to have been trying to recruit its customers’ staff to help with the effort and has hired an HPE exec and a chip architect from Intel.

Sinno has worked at Arm before as Director of Engineering Systems and Software from 2014-18 and as vp of Engineering Systems from 2018-19.
