Phoenix, Arizona-based electronic components distributor Avnet announced Feb. 15 it has hired Rebecca Obregon-Jimenez as Senior Vice President of Strategic Business Engagements.

In this newly created role, Obregon-Jimenez will manage Avnet’s United, Velocity and Integrated business units, IP&E (interconnect, passive and electromechanical) supplier management and strategy, mergers and acquisitions, according to a news release.

“We’re pleased to bring on such a talented individual to lead key global organizations focused on providing a seamless customer experience,” Avnet CEO Phil Gallagher said in the release. “Rebecca will be overseeing strategic areas of our company that provide product integration and leading-edge supply chain solutions and we’re confident that under her leadership these areas will continue to thrive.”

Obregon-Jimenez has more than 30 years’ experience in the semiconductor industry, most recently serving as Corporate Vice President at Amkor Technology. She has a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Arizona State University and a master’s degree in electrical engineering from National Technological University.
