The China government is trying to  stop Foxconn from expanding operations at its its Indian factories by telling  Foxconn to pull back Chinese engineers from Indian sites.

The latest report on the situation by Bloomberg is that Beijing has told Foxconn to redeploy 300 Chinese engineers from its Indian subsidiary Yuzhan Technology and cancel plans for another 60 Chinese engineers to go to India.

Foxconn is now bringing in Taiwanese engineers to fill the gaps.

This is a repeat of a similar operation, earlier this year, when a similar number of Chinese engineers were  recalled from locations in India.

One motivation of Beijing is thought  to be to be to hinder the transfer  of Apple‘s iPhone assembly from China to India.

Apple is not the only target. In general, China wants to slow down the export of know-how, skilled people and equipment to other countries to which companies are diversifying their manufacturing out of China..

Beijing even asked Foxconn’s chairman to submit a report on Foxconn’s operations in India
