The various kits are designed to simplify and validate designs, from prototype to production stages, based on Samtec’s interconnect products for mil/aero applications using COTS and open standard products.
The VITA 57.1 FPGA mezzanine card (FMC) evaluation kits include the FMC extender card and the FireFly FMC development kit. The FireFly kit provides up to 140Gbps full-duplex bandwidth over 10 channels from an FPGA to an industry-standard multi-mode fibre optic cable.
In addition, there are VITA 57.4 FMC+ evaluation kits, including an extender card, the FMC+ HSPC loopback card, the FMC+ HSPC/HSPCe loopback card for testing low-speed and high-speed multi-gigabit transceivers on any FPGA development board or FPGA carrier card. It can run system data or BER testing on all channels in parallel to evaluate an FPGA and can be used in place of 28Gbps test equipment. There is also a 25/28Gbps FireFly FMC+ development board.
The company’s board-to-board connectors are available in both standard and application-specific versions for mil/aero designs. Many are certified for Mil-Spec systems, including MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-810G, MIL-STD-1344, MIL-PRF-38534, MIL-DTL-55302, and NASA Class D missions.
Products are tested to or beyond industry standards, including lot screen testing per EIA-364, which meets or exceeds MIL-DTL-55302, said Samtec.
Its Severe Environment Testing (SET) includes the company’s standard DQT (Design Qualification Testing) and Extended Life Product (ELP) testing. There is also additional testing for interconnect systems for use in more extreme/harsh applications or environments.
