Data: Supply Chain Pros' Income Up 3% From 2022

Salaries for supply chain professionals continue to rise, with median income up 3% in 2023 from 2022, according to data collected by the Association for Supply Chain Management.

ASCM’s 2023 Supply Chain Salary and Career Report found that the median income for U.S.-based supply chain professionals — including base and additional compensation — was $98,570. 

Research showed that workers with up to or less than nine years of experience received a salary increase in the past year. Overall, nearly half of all U.S.-based supply chain professionals received a pay increase of at least 8%.

On the job-hopping front, the data found that U.S.-based professionals who started a new job saw their salary increase 13% on average, compared to a 7% average increase for those who kept the same job.

The report also found: 

• Over two-thirds of respondents reported high career satisfaction. 
• 96% of respondents plan to remain in their field in the next five years.
• 82% of supply chain professionals take pride in their work.

Pay Gap Lingers for Executive-Level Supply Chain Professionals, Especially at Private Companies

While the report found that women in U.S. entry-level positions with less than two years of experience are earning higher salaries than their male counterparts, a pay gap remains prevalent for those in higher-level positions. 

At private companies in the U.S., the pay gap between men and women is 10%, and at public companies the pay gap is 4%, ASCM’s data found. 

Compensation for U.S. supply chain professionals who identified themselves as white appeared higher overall at private companies. Still, the pay gap between black and white supply chain professionals narrowed to 4%, from 14% in 2022. 

Additionally, the U.S. median Hispanic salary was statistically the same as white respondents.
