Harwin Kontrol through hole anchored connectors web

“Industrial environments are evolving rapidly, with applications and modern equipment needing to tolerate higher levels of vibration and allow increased data throughput while being afforded less space,” according to the company. “Tests show through hole retention offers up to twice the PCB retention force of surface mount retention options.”

The new parts are rated for up to 500 mating cycles and can withstand 20G vibration for up to 12 hours.

Contact pitch is 1.27mm (0.05inch) and there are nine pin variants from 6+6 to 40+40, in both vertical and horizontal orientations.

Shrouding mechanically protects the contacts, and polarisation discourages mating in the wrong orientation. “The connectors also feature location pegs to ensure correct board placement and inhibit movement while soldering,” said Harwin.

With a fully shrouded design, these connectors are suited for blind-mating applications – allowable angular misalignment when mating is between 2° and 5°depending on the particular connector and its orientation.

Contact rating is 500mA and 100Vac, with 25mΩ maximum initial resistance, and up to 3Gbit/s can be transmitted under the right circumstances.

The complete Kontrol range has board-to-board as well as cable-to-board connectors.
