Onsemni, a pioneer in intelligent power and sensor technologies, recently launched the release of two comprehensive system solutions that support the most frequently utilized building automation network protocols, Power over Ethernet (PoE) and KNX.
The NCN5140S is the first System-in-Package (SiP) that has been certified by the KNX Association. This makes it easier to access and control panels. The NCN5140S combines all of the important and certified parts of a KNX device into a single package. These parts include a digital KNX transceiver, a 32-bit Arm Cortex-M0+ microcontroller with a pre-certified software stack and system power DC/DC converters. With its strong standard of integration, the NCN5140S cuts costs and lets manufacturers design products that are trim and contemporary (5 mm total depth).
The only lighting system product on the market with certain desired features
Along with the NCN5140S, onsemi has released a comprehensive solution for connected lighting driven by Ethernet. The NCL31010 is the only product on the market that has a smart LED driver and a PoE interface built into a single package. This helps with both lighting and getting power to light systems that are completely connected and controlled.

To ensure seamless connectivity, KNX products must show compliance with approved standards and profiles via the institution’s certification program. Since the NCN5140S system is pre-certified, products based on it acquire this compliance, removing the need for KNX certification testing. All that would be considered necessary is a KNX declaration of product modification. This saves time that would otherwise be needed for a full certification.
