“With these specifications, it can replace conventional mercury discharge lamps in the future,” according to the company, whose previous best LED coul only manage 5.3%.
The increase in efficiency is attributed to optimising the extraction of UV-C from the die.
These are development parts, with commercial version predicted to be available late in 2026.
“The company safeguards its innovations in UV-C LED technology with more than 200 patent assets,” it said.
The LED’s efficiency was validated by PTB, Germany’s Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt national metrology institute.
