Haylo Labs was set up five months ago by the two year-old venture fund Haylo Ventures. ‘Recognising the need to bring together a fragmented yet highly promising microLED sector, we established Haylo Labs to focus exclusively on this space,’ says Haylo Ventures.

Goertek, founded in 2001, is a Chinese company involved in the research, development, production, and sales of acoustic and optical components used in smartphones, tablets,  earbuds, VR and AR headsets, smart wearables, and smart home appliances.

Plessey-AR-GaN-led-micro-display-660“Plessey has built the world’s most advanced microLED platforms, with the highest efficiency to date, and is one of the only facilities in the world that can offer customers an end-to-end design and manufacturing facility with technology and talent that surpasses rivals anywhere globally,” said David Hayes founding partner of Haylo  Ventures.

The Goertek product range includes MEMS sensors, VR/AR hardware, smart earphones and gaming consoles. Customers include Apple, Samsung, Sony, Lenovo, Huawei, and Fitbit.

The deal was cleared by the UK government.
