LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM—On February 28, 2023, U.S. Secretary of Energy Jennifer M. Granholm and UK Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero Grant Shapps co-chaired the third meeting of the U.S.-UK Strategic Energy Dialogue in London, United Kingdom. Each discussed the current state of global energy markets and their countries’ roles in addressing immediate energy security concerns, and shared key policy and financing levers available in their respective economies to encourage clean energy technology advancement, demonstration, and deployment. Secretary Granholm and Secretary of State Shapps reaffirmed their commitment to promoting enhanced international cooperation in multilateral fora including the G7, G20, International Energy Agency, and other platforms.  Secretary Granholm and Secretary of State Shapps also voiced their support for building stronger working-level activities for the Dialogue. The previous day, Secretary Granholm and Secretary of State Shapps co-chaired a business roundtable that brought together private sector innovators and representatives of the financial industry to discuss the clean energy investment environment in the United States and the United Kingdom. The Dialogue brought meaningful discussions around what they would advise the U.S. Government and His Majesty’s Government to work on, independently and together, to incentivize and scale clean energy development and investment.
