Below we present the offer of Everlight brand optoelectronic components. This Taiwanese manufacturer boasts over 40 years of experience in its industry. Everlight, as a highly specialized supplier, targets its offer to customers seeking universal, high-quality components. These solutions are used in industrial devices, power supplies, consumer electronics, telecommunications networks, and other fields. Many of the presented products are available directly from TME warehouses. We invite you to review the assortment and visit our catalog.
In this article, we cover topics such as:
- Types and parameters of LEDs from Everlight’s offer
- Typical applications of optoelectronic components
- Properties and formats of phototransistors
- Advantages of photodiodes and their offer
- Optocouplers with analog and digital outputs
LEDs
Like other manufacturers specializing in optoelectronics, Everlight has a diverse selection of light-emitting diodes in its portfolio. Among them, you can find many classic solutions (primarily THT LED elements with diameters of 3mm and 5mm), as well as less typical products (e.g., with a specific lens shape). The main division of products results from the mounting technology: surface-mount (SMD) or through-hole (THT).
Furthermore, it should be noted that Everlight’s LEDs are available in many color versions. Moreover, the assortment also includes multicolor versions, i.e., integrating two or three structures in one housing, each emitting waves of different lengths. This allows for multifunctional indicators (e.g., chargers or switches) and creating lighting effects. The latter are usually achieved using RGB LEDs (red, green, blue) – Everlight also provides such solutions. These are small SMD elements that can be successfully integrated into miniaturized circuits and even used for LED strip production.
In terms of electrical parameters, the presented LEDs meet industry standards. Their operating voltages range from 1.15V to 4.3V DC, currents range from 2mA to 100mA, and the maximum power is 150mW.
It is worth noting that LEDs also include components emitting light in the infrared spectrum (infrared). They are available in many formats, including SMD, allowing for the construction of miniature transmitters, lighting sources for night vision cameras, etc. They feature power up to 150mW and are equipped with lenses of various types, emitting both focused beams (20°) and wide angles (up to 160°). Additionally, the manufacturer offers IR receiver modules.
Photoelements
Based on optoelectronic structures, a range of components commonly used in consumer, industrial, and user electronics is produced. Everlight also offers a diverse assortment of universal solutions in this field.
Phototransistors
Phototransistors are semiconductor elements similar to classic transistors, but in their case, the control of current flow between the base and collector is done by illuminating the junction. Such light sensitivity allows for the construction of measuring devices, sensors used in automation, communication receivers, etc. Phototransistors are characterized by greater sensitivity than photodiodes, while also being simple in construction and easy to use. Everlight’s offer includes such elements in THT and SMD formats (e.g., 1206), with a maximum collector-emitter voltage of 30V, characterized by the highest sensitivity for wavelengths of 890nm or 940nm (the full working spectrum can range from 530nm to 1030nm). The dark current (i.e., in the absence of light falling on the junction) is 0.1µA.
Photodiodes
Photodiodes, due to their fast response time and ease of implementation, are commonly used in encoders, communication systems, medical devices (e.g., pulse oximeters), motion and distance sensors, etc. They can operate at very high frequencies, allowing for precise measurements, which is particularly important in industrial sensors. Everlight’s photodiodes feature a maximum reverse voltage of 32V. Their turn-on and turn-off times can range (depending on the model) from 6ns to 50ns. TME’s catalog offers photodiodes in THT and SMD housings, with various types of lenses (flat, convex, viewing angle from 45° to 130°).
Optocouplers and Optotriacs
We have already had the opportunity to write about Everlight optocouplers in an article dedicated to them. The manufacturer offers a selection of elements with analog or digital output, in traditional DIP housings. Here you can find both high-voltage elements (used, for example, in motor controllers) and elements intended for communication applications (circuit isolation), in measuring devices (transistor output up to 80V).
The assortment is complemented by optotriacs, which are components adapted for operation with alternating current (AC), especially for handling large loads: motors, starters, heaters, electromechanical modules, and solenoids. They are typically used as an interface between a digital control system (e.g., a microcontroller) and a receiver requiring mains power.
