There are two:
- RSPM-2300.000-6001-GT-NS1: 6mm dia, 1.5mm thick, resonating around 2.3kHz
- RSPM-5000.5001-GT-NS2: 5mm dia 1.5mm thick, resonating around 5kHz
Frequency response is dependent on the engineering of the acoustic path between speaker and ear, and they need a open path to the rear.
Output is “up to 120dB SPL for brilliant, distortion-free sound”, claimed Raltron.
Maximum drive to either device is 9.5Vrms (13.5Vpeak) at up to 80kHz, and they are intended to run with a dc bias superimposed on the ac signal waveform – USounds’ UC-P3010 amplifier IC, with its single Li-ion cell supply (2.7 – 5.5V) and integrated dc-dc boost, is mentioned as a suitable driver.
The speakers are non-magnetic, making them “perfect for MRI-compatible applications”, said Raltron, and they are compatible with automated production lines.
Find the data sheets on these Raltron web pages: 5mm loudpeaker and 6mm loudspeaker.
In March, x-Mems announced an even smaller loudspeaker, due to appear later this year
