WT Microelectronics Co.’s mega acquisition of fellow distributor Future Electronics is now complete.

Taipei, Taiwan-based WT Microelectronics announced April 2 that its $3.8 billion purchase of Montreal, Canada-based fellow electronic components distributor Future Electronics is now complete.

The combination further cements WT as a global electronics distribution force, now dual-headquartered in Taipei and Montreal.

WT had 2023 global revenues of $19.1 billion. Founded in 1993 initially as a Taiwan-based semiconductor components distributor, the company has over 400 supplier partners today across major technology segments and a base of over 25,000 customers worldwide.

In its initial September news release announcing the acquisition, WT noted that Future Electronics’ had 2023 first-half revenue of $2.9 billion. Founded in 1968, the company has approximately 5,100 employees worldwide, with a presence in 48 countries and regions.

In a shared news release, the companies said the deal brings together two highly complementary business models and with end-to-end service capabilities by leveraging the strengths and expertise of both organizations to offer greater value to customers and suppliers.
