It was the second straight monthly decrease after May orders fell 0.5%.
U.S. Census Bureau data released Aug. 2 showed that new orders of manufactured goods decreased 3.3% month-to-month during June to $564.2 billion for a second consecutive decrease. May orders fell 0.5%.
The Bureau’s latest report noted that June durable goods orders decreased 6.7% month-to-month, down from the 6.6% decrease published in the Bureau’s July 25 advance report.
Shipments — up four of the five last months — increased 1.2% in June, unchanged from the previously published increase.
Unfilled orders — down following 46 consecutive monthly increases — decreased 1.4% in June, down from the previously published 1.3% decrease. This followed a 0.2% increase in May.
June’s unfilled orders-to-shipments ratio was 6.94, down/up from May’s 7.17.
Inventories — down following two consecutive monthly increases — decreased $0.2 billion in June $529.3 billion, following a 0.2% May increase.
June’s inventories-to-shipments ratio was 1.46, down from May’s 1.47.
