API expands US LBM’s structural component manufacturing capabilities to better serve its customers across the Midwest.

US LBM

Specialty building materials distributor US LBM has acquired its fourth structural building component manufacturer this year with the addition of Marshfield, WI-based Automated Products Inc. (API)

Founded in 1964, API manufactures roof trusses, floor trusses, wall panels and floor panels for commercial and residential builders throughout Wisconsin and the Minnesota-St. Paul metropolitan area.

“The team at API shares US LBM’s commitment to innovation and leveraging technology, which allows them to deliver superior value for residential and commercial builders throughout Wisconsin and the upper Midwest,” said US LBM President and CEO L.T. Gibson. “The addition of API expands US LBM’s already-strong structural component manufacturing capabilities and further enhances our support for customers across the Midwest.”

Sean Kelly and John Dees will continue to lead API’s day-to-day operations.

This year, US LBM also acquired manufacturers RAKS Building Supply in New Mexico, Better Built Truss in Northern California and Homestead Building Systems in Virginia. (As well as Michigan-based Old Mission Windows on the distribution side.)

US LBM ranked No. 6 on MDM’s 2024 Top Building Materials/Construction Distributors List.
