Accellera Systems Initiative announced the Federated Simulation Standard (FSS) working group (WG). The charter of the new working group is chaired by NXP’s Martin Barnasconi, with Qualcomm’s Mark Burton as vice chair.
“Throughout the Proposed Working Group period, many companies across multiple industries expressed interest to consolidate the requirements for a federated simulation ecosystem,” said Accellera’s chair, Lu Dai (pictured). The working group’s task is to develop a standard and open infrastructure for interoperability of modelling and simulation throughout a product lifecycle.
The resulting standard and infrastructure is expected to align with standards such as ED-247 used in avionics, FMI/FMU applied in automotive, and SMP2 used in the space industry to leverage exisiting standards and formats for sharing and integrating models, simulators and components across multiple industries.
The first meeting of the Federated Simulation Standard Working Group will be held online in July. This initial meeting will focus on the goals for the working group, its structure, and the development timeline, confirmed Dai, speaking to Electronics Weekly at DAC 2025.
Accellera also announced its SystemC Summer of Code project, for young engineers, looking to gain experience while contributing to the evolution of the SystemC ecosystem. If selected, students work closely with Accellera working groups on a programming task for a period of two to three months and will receive support from experienced mentors throughout that period.
